Speakers include Derek Laffan, Dr. Nicola Fox Hamilton & Dr. Brian Slattery.

Derek Laffan:

MSc is a Research Assistant in the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre. Derek holds a first class honours degree in Applied Psychology from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology.

Derek was awarded a free fees scholarship to conduct his masters research in the area of video games in positive psychological interventions. His masters research was published in the Computers in Human Behavior academic journal. He also teaches psychology to gifted transition year students at the Centre for Talented Youth Ireland.

Dr. Nicola Fox Hamilton:

Nicola Fox Hamilton completed her PhD in the University of Wolverhampton and is a member of the Cyberpsychology Research Group there.

Nicola holds an MSc in Cyberpsychology from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT, Dun Laoghaire) where she is a lecturer on the Psychology and Interactive User Experience Design programmes in the Department of Technology and Psychology.

Nicola has published several papers and book chapters in the area of online dating, online behaviour, consumer behaviour and cyberpsychology. Her research interests are online dating and communication, personality, and attraction. She regularly contributes to academic conferences, media discussions, public events, and interdisciplinary presentations on a number of topics related to her cyberpsychology research. She was founding secretary of the Psychological Society of Ireland’s Special Interest Group for Media, Art and Cyberpsychology.

Dr. Brian Slattery:

Dr. Brian Slattery is an Assistant Professor in Psychology in the School of Psychology at Dublin City University. Brian’s research interests are in eHealth (digital health), eHealth in the context of self-management of chronic illness (e.g., chronic pain), digital behavior change, user engagement, technology design using participatory methods, human computer interaction and more broadly in health and behavioral psychology.
