Girls learn about Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers
“Discover Your Future” presented by AAUW Lansdale Branch in conjunction with Montgomery County Community College is a day of interactive workshops conducted by outstanding women leaders and role models in Biology, Chemistry, Technology, Engineering, Physics, and Math. “Discover Your Future” strives to overturn the stereotype that girls are less capable, or not interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The program geared to girls grades 5 to 8th creates a fun environment to excite girls with opportunities in STEM. The program on March 7, 2020 will run from 8:30 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon at MCCC’s Blue Bell Campus for a nominal charge.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math or STEM education has become more relevant to develop the critical thinking skills needed in the high-tech workforce for innovation and invention. While STEM offers higher-paying careers, the lack of females in these roles is contributing to the gender salary gap. If less than half the population isn’t contributing to new ideas, we aren’t getting the best ideas.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SNACKS AND WATER WILL BE PROVIDED FOR STUDENTS HOWEVER, STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH
Parents are welcome to listen to the Keynote speaker. The girls will sit with their group for the speaker.
